Cloud Solutions for Small Businesses

We help organisations plan, configure and support cloud services such as Microsoft 365 in a way that is practical, secure, and practical and suited to real-world use

While cloud services can improve flexibility and collaboration, they also introduce complexity and risk if not designed carefully. Our approach focuses on assessment first, clear explanation, and ongoing oversight rather than one-size-fits-all solutions.

Cloud services become relevant when email, shared files, permissions, identity, collaboration tools, or business continuity depend on systems that need to work reliably across more than one user or device. This page explains when cloud support is appropriate, what it typically covers, and how it relates to wider IT support and security responsibilities.

What we provide

Our cloud services are built on established third-party platforms and are delivered following assessment.

The services below are typically used where organisations need cloud systems that are practical, secure, and properly aligned with how people actually work. Some situations involve a one-time migration or configuration change, while others require ongoing oversight, access control, backup planning, or coordination with wider business systems.

Our cloud services typically include:

Microsoft 365 configuration and support

Google Workspace configuration and support

Cloud email and collaboration tools

Email service migration, this is usually to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace

Cloud backup and data protection

Azure and cloud infrastructure support where appropriate

Hybrid cloud environments combining on-premises and cloud systems

Business continuity and disaster recovery planning

Backup and continuity services are designed as part of a wider resilience approach and are not implemented without proper assessment and context.

When cloud services are typically needed

Cloud support is usually required in situations such as:

    • Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace needs to be set up properly for a business environment
    • email migration is required from an existing provider
    • shared file storage, permissions, or collaboration tools are not working clearly or reliably
    • users are having repeated issues with access, sign in, or cloud synchronisation
    • backup, retention, or recovery planning is needed for cloud-based data
    • cloud services need to be reviewed as part of wider security, resilience, or business continuity planning

How we approach cloud services

Cloud services are built on third-party platforms such as Microsoft and Google. While these platforms are powerful, they are not automatically suitable for every organisation without careful configuration and oversight.

We begin by understanding how your organisation works, what data you rely on, and what risks need to be managed. Based on this assessment, we recommend appropriate configurations and services, explain trade-offs clearly, and avoid unnecessary complexity where it does not add operational value.

Where cloud services support shared access, email flow, permissions, or wider business continuity, they often require more than basic setup. In these cases, ongoing management or specialist input may be appropriate, and this is explained clearly before any work proceeds.

What cloud support does and does not include

Cloud support typically includes planning, configuration, migration, permissions, and support for services such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, cloud email, shared storage, backup, and related identity or access controls.

It does not automatically include every wider infrastructure issue that may sit around those services. For example, where the issue involves shared business systems, supplier coordination, network responsibility, or long-term operational oversight, structured IT Support may be more appropriate.

Where the issue is limited to one Windows computer or laptop, and the cloud problem is local to that device or user profile, Computer Support may be the more appropriate starting point.

Where cloud services are part of wider systems or business operations, security and risk management become an important part of the overall design. This makes security and risk management an important part of how cloud services are designed and maintained.

Security and risk management in the cloud

Cloud services change how data is accessed and shared, which introduces different security considerations. No cloud platform is secure by default.

We help organisations reduce risk through appropriate configuration, access controls, backup strategies, and ongoing review. Security measures are designed to lower risk and limit impact, not to promise absolute protection. A more detailed explanation of how layered security works in practice can be found in our layered security guide.

Where cloud security forms part of a broader risk reduction or resilience strategy, this work may sit alongside our Security and Resilience services. Where cloud services are part of wider shared systems requiring ongoing oversight, structured IT Support may also be relevant.

Choosing the right starting point

Different situations may call for different types of support:

  • If the issue involves Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, cloud email, shared files, permissions, or migration planning, Cloud Solutions may be the right starting point.
  • If the issue affects wider shared systems, multiple users, supplier coordination, or ongoing responsibility, IT Support may be more appropriate.
  • If the concern is primarily about backup, recovery planning, ransomware resilience, or layered security, Security and Resilience services may also be relevant.
  • If the issue affects only one Windows computer or laptop, and the problem appears limited to that device, Computer Support may be the more appropriate starting point.

If the situation is unclear, the most appropriate path can be identified following an initial discussion.
